Former U.S. President, Obama’s second Presidential Inauguration event held in 2013 has already set the bar high. It featured performances by popular celebrities including Kelly Clarkson, Beyonce, and James Taylor.
The celebration will take place when Joe Biden is sworn in as 46th President of the United States on January 20, 2021. More performances and celebrity names are yet to be announced for the event. The live prime time special will air at 08:30 p.m. ET/PT on multiple channels.
The Inauguration celebration, “Celebrating America” will air on multiple platforms, including CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, and MSNBC. Along with that, it will also stream live on social media platforms. The streaming will be held on Presidential Inauguration Committee’s Facebook, YouTube, Twitch, and Twitter channels. Moreover, it will go live on PIC’s streaming partners, Microsoft Bing, Amazon Prime Video, U-verse, AT&T DirecTV, and NewsNOW from Fox.
The live event “Celebrating America” seeks to engage and entertain the audience during the pandemic from the comfort of their homes without losing sight of heroic efforts seen in 2020. Therefore, American United is a special initiative by the Presidential Inauguration Committee to unite the country.
PIC CEO, Tony Allen says, “This inauguration presents a unique opportunity to spotlight the resilience and spirit of an America united.” He further adds, “we are creating real moments of connection that highlight a new inclusive American era of leadership that works for and represents all Americans.”
The pandemic situation is upending the traditional Inauguration ceremony and festivities. The parade and many other festivities will be virtual. There will be no in-person concerts, or inaugural balls with donors, politicians, and lobbyists glad-handing.
In the light of possible violent disruptions from former President Trump’s supporters, the main focus is on safety. Therefore, the prime time special will be a mix of pre-tape, live, and virtual events. The inauguration programming has already begun to mark the historical event of leadership and heroism.
