A 22-year old man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly carrying a rifle into an Atlanta grocery store. Rico Marley was later found to have five guns and body armor. The incident comes after two similar incidents of killings this month.
No one was injured, and the man’s motives were not clear late Wednesday.
The man’s objectives were not clear and there was no harm done to anyone in the incident. The police are still investigating the matter and are likely to report the reasons behind the killings soon.
The accused, Rico Marley was charged with reckless conduct for the incident that happened at a Publix Supermarket at around 1:30 p.m.
As per reports from the police, the man went into a bathroom in the store when the police were waiting for him.
The Atlanta Police Department said in a statement, “During the investigation, officers recovered five firearms and body armor from the male’s possession.” However, it was not evident where the other guns were kept or whether he was wearing a body armor.
The weapons uncovered were two long guns and three pistols.
According to a witness, the man was seen with an AR-15 rifle in the bathroom.
Police stated that he was being taken to the county jail for further processing.
There were no phone numbers listed by Rico Marley in Georgia.
The arrest was made two days after a gunman killed people at a grocery store in Boulder, Colorado. The major suspect in those killings was taken into custody and charged with murder.
There was a similar incident of killing last week. A gunman allegedly killed eight people while targeting a massage parlor and two spas in and near Atlanta. The killer in those shootings has also been taken into custody and charged.
Considering the growing number of such incidents in the past few days, Atlanta police have been forced to become more vigilant. Efforts are being made to find patterns in the incidents and solve the mystery as soon as possible.
