Fans of Taylor Swift are convinced she left hints for them during the interview with Colbert on 13th April. This interview saw conversations from throwback songs to cryptic numbers and witty dialogues. Fans believe Swift was not just being funny during her appearance on Stephen Colbert’s The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. It seemed like a skit rather than an interview.
The interview started with Stephen asking Taylor if her song “Hey Stephen,” is about him. It was an interesting question as Taylor recently re-recorded that song along with her other songs from her 2008 album called Fearless for Taylor’s version of Fearless which dropped on April 9. Taylor gave the first hint when she said, “No, Stephen…I mean I first recorded that song in 2008. I think I was like 18…I mean, you were probably about 44 years, 179 days old, give and or take several hours.”
Stephen replied that was “shockingly specific,” to which Taylor deadpanned “Like I said, I’m a big fan.” Taylor also revealed that she sent a CD which was signed to Colbert’s office “513 West 54th Street, New York, New York, 10019 2nd Floor Office, Facing the street.” Fans believe this to be another hint.
Another hint seems to be the mood board she made that was Stephen inspired. Taylor humorously said that she made the board for three days to get herself back in the same headspace as she was when she was writing “Hey Stephen” in the year 2008. Swift said that the mood board did not just have the late night host’s photos, pointing out to the pizza in the corner. Fans are contemplating about the pizza.
Taylor also made references to 1989 which released in 2014. She said, “‘Hey Stephen’ is not about you, anymore than my album 1989 is about that year you spent waiting tables on the lunch shift at Scoozi, an Italian restaurant in the river north area of Chicago, that by the way serves a really incredible slice of pizza.” She mentioned Pizza again. One of her fans pointed out that “there are 5 pieces of pepperoni on the pizza and 1989 is her fifth album.” Another fan said, “The pizza also appeared to be “New York-style.” One of Swift’s songs from 1989 is called “Welcome To New York.”
Taylor said it is common knowledge for everyone that checks Colbert’s Wikipedia page and told him “You Need To Calm Down.” This seems like another hint for 1989. She then joked about who the real Stephen is in the song “Hey Stephen”. She said it is Stephen King. “The Dark Tower series changed my life, plus The Shining, The Stand, and don’t even get me started on his short stories…absolutely luminescent,” added Taylor. One fan pointed out that the writer had a short story collection which released in 1989 called Dark Visions.
Fans believe that the next album Taylor re-records will be 1989. One fan said, “Not Normal People (swifties): taylor is releasing 1989 in may bc there was a seagull on the poster and she said 33035179 which adds up to 31 which is 13 backwards and 31 days from now is may 14,”
