Wednesday was the last day for Chrissy Teigen on Twitter. After being on the platform for almost ten years now, she has finally decided to move on.
In her last tweet, she mentions that her Twitter account no longer serves her positively as it serves her negatively. She believes that it is the right time to move out of the chaos and find some peace.
“For over 10 years, you guys have been my world. I honestly owe so much to this world we have created here. I truly consider so many of you my actual friends,” Teigen wrote. “My life goal is to make people happy. The pain I feel when I don’t is too much for me. I’ve always been portrayed as the strong clap back girl but I’m just not…”
“My desire to be liked and fear of pissing people off has made me somebody you didn’t sign up for and a different human than I started out here as! Live well, tweeters. Please know all I ever cared about was you!!”
It was Wednesday night when Teigen’s account had gone completely.
She had been targeted by online trolls for years. She posted about it several times last week. The online hate was getting too much for her to handle.
“do u ever feel like everyone hates you? I feel like everyone hates me,” she wrote Friday. “I’m not looking for you to tell me you don’t, I swear, please don’t!!! it is just overwhelming. i keep seeing ‘how has she not disabled these comments’ across all platforms on anything I say and it sucks.”
Teigen’s Twitter was all about food and jokes and heartbreaks. However, there are people out there who take everything as an opportunity to spread hate. The online criticism had finally begun to bother her. That was when she decided that it was enough for her.
Chrissy Teigen is not the only celebrity to have deleted Twitter. Over the years, there have been many who have said quits to the social media platform, including Megan Fox, Sam Smith, Lindsay Lohan, Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber.
