Caitlyn Jenner has confirmed that she will be running for the post of Governor of California. Twitter has exploded after this announcement as people are sharing their thoughts.
Caitlyn Jenner, 71, announced on Friday that she has filed all the paperwork required to run against Democrat Gavin Newsom who is the current Governor, for the post next year. This was in Jenner’s campaign, “California has been my home for nearly 50 years. I came here because I knew that anyone, regardless of their background or station in life, could turn their dreams into reality. But for the past decade, we have seen the glimmer of the Golden State reduced by a one-party rule that places politics over progress and special interests over people.”
She has not yet shared which party she is running for, but the Keeping Up With The Kardashian star tweeted describing herself as a “#lgbt fiscal conservative and socially liberal candidate.”
Jenner had been known to be a member of the Republican Party. She later shared that her political opinions have now changed as when she came out as a transgender in the year 2015, many Republican party members did not support her transgender rights and gay marriage views. Jenner shared with People in 2020, that she thinks of herself as “economically conservative, socially progressive” and thinks “we need equality for all, regardless of who’s in the White House.”
Her statements were an oxymoron. They confused a lot of people since you cannot want equal rights for all minority groups and still be fiscally conservative. It is either one or the other. It often is dangerous for marginalized groups and simply does not work. If you are looking for real social progression then you need progressive fiscal policy. Her statements showcase to people that she is quite unqualified for the job. She has also been known to vote for Donald Trump in 2016.
After her announcement, many voters and celebrities took to Twitter to share their opinions. “You are running as a Republican?! Republicans deny your existence and are trying to erase trans youth. HELL NO” was tweeted by Alyssa Milano.
Kathy Griffin is a friend to the Kardashian family, however, she retweeted Ricky Davila’s tweet which said,
“As a gay Californian, I’ll never vote for Caitlyn Jenner Kardashian. She’s unqualified, loathsome, selfish and her views are abhorrent. To top all that off, her campaign website is being hosted by a platform that was created by criminal MAGA lunatic Brad Parscale. No thanks.”
Griffin also added, “Caitlyn driving a car was not the best choice for her official campaign photo. RIP Kim Howe” Caitlyn Jenner had been in an accident in 2015 in Malibu which had led to the death of Kim.
Some of the voters tweeted their thoughts as well, Sandi DeMita Dalomba tweeted, “Caitlyn Jenner is seriously trying to run for Governor of California?? Why? And as a Republican?? What?” whereas Dana Goldberg tweeted, “When you see Republicans suddenly support Caitlyn Jenner, you’ll realize it was never about trans people at all. The hate and bigotry is a distraction until Republicans can somehow benefit from championing someone whose existence they have refused to acknowledge… until now.”
