Excitement returned to the arenas as the NCAA Tournament returned to the big stage.
During the second half of a First Four game in the NCAA men’s college basketball tournament, UCLA’s Mac Etienne got into a head-on with Michigan State’s Joshua Langford. UCLA came out victorious with a score of 86-80.
It has been 710 days since the last time we witnessed the NCAA Tournament. The wait is worth it as it is truly one of the most awaited tournaments since the pandemic.
The matches so far have been exciting. The heat was up and the players were as excited as the spectators. So, here’s a brief overview of how the tournament has been going so far.
UCLA beat Michigan State 86-80, Drake beat Wichita State 53-52, Norfolk State outlasted Appalachian State 54-53 and Texas Southern squeezed Mount St. Mary’s 60-52. The other matches have been lined up strategically and we can expect some great matches in the tournament this year.
The win for Drake’s was a long-time event – 50 years to be precise. Texas Southern had it easy with the deliberate Mount St. Mary’s squad in a match of 16 seeds. They will play against East Region top seed Michigan on Saturday.
Texas Southern’s top player John Walker III said, “I feel like I’m on top of the world,” after winning against Mount St. Mary’s.
Norfolk State won against Appalachian after a tough battle. It was worth watching and the excitement was just as enthralling for the spectators as it was for the players.
